Siju Iluyomade’s City of David missing in Herbert Wigwe’s funeral programme

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish, where the group chief executive of Access Holdings Plc Herbert Wigwe used to worship before his death, is conspicuously missing from the funeral programme released by the family.

Mr Wigwe, his wife Chizoba and first son Chizi and others died in a helicopter crash in Southern California, United States on February 9.

According to a release by Wigwe’s family on Wednesday, the funeral will begin with a celebration of the professional legacy of Wigwe at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on March 4.

The lives of Wigwe’s wife and son will be celebrated in separate ceremonies scheduled for March 5 at Eko Hotel and Suites, before a night of tributes a day later at the same venue.

A combined service of songs will be held on March 7 at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Resurrection Parish, Lekki followed by a wake at Wigwe University, Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State on March 8.

The combined funeral service is scheduled for March 9 at RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo. This will be followed by a private interment.

The funeral will be rounded off with an outing service at the RCCG, Lion of Judah Parish, Isiokpo on March 10.

It was not immediately clear if the exclusion of City of David Parish was due to the grand 60th birthday celebration that the church’s pastor’s wife Siju Iluyomade had days after Wigwe’s death.

Many have criticised Iluyomade over the timing of her celebration.

Wigwe’s father Shyngle is also a pastor in the RCCG. He was attending a ministers’ conference on June 5, 1997, when Osita, his 34-year-old first child, died in a road accident while travelling from Lagos to Port Harcourt.
